Veteran saxophonist Erly Thornton keeps his momentum flowing towards the upcoming release of his album BETTER TOGETHER with a fast and furious, not to mention funky new tune, "Formula One." It's the Smooth Jazz equivalent of a muscle car featuring intensely emotional playing complemented by guest star Oli Silk's dazzling melodic piano and guitarist Lavon Rushing's popping solo action over an engaging rhythm guitar. Composed by Erly, the song was inspired after watching a documentary on Lewis Hamilton, the highly successful F1 Driver. The song was initially recorded in England where several prominent London musicians contributed. Orefo Orakwue landed an intense bass line and Joe Malone added live drums. Later Stuart Long added rhythm guitar using a Nile Rodgers style that keeos the song moving. Then after some initial production in Orlando by producer Derrick Harvin the track was sent to Oli Silk who graciously agreed to contribute, sending some blazing piano and mellow moog synth tracks. Back in Orlando, Long time Groove Elation Records contributor Lavon Rushing added his signature style, a mix between Bass and Lead guitars that demonstrates each instruments influence. Erly recorded final soprano sax in Miami and Derrick Harvin brought it home with his excellent and award winning production skills. Formula One is now available on all digital services
